Time I Was Judged Unfairly free essay sample

Wally Treated and Judged unfairly There was a time back in grade school when I was people had the unjust judgment of who I am as a person because I was a little different from everyone else. I have always been bigger in size than most people and that hasnt changed today. I would wear different attire than other people because of the area I grew up in and the size of me. I would also be into hip hop music because of who I grew up with; however, I was the only one that only listened to hip hop because everyone was raised to not sites to the language they spoke In those songs. When I was a kid and didnt dress or look like everyone else it would be difficult for me to be included in some groups either out of fear by some of the smaller kids or flat out disgust at me being the biggest guy in the class. We will write a custom essay sample on Time I Was Judged Unfairly or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I am still a husky guy to this day; however, I am going to try to cut down a lot because I feel In this society today you have to be thin or average to be accepted. Unfortunately have become less and less happy with my weight and appearance ND its caused me to doubt myself and has hindered some of the better times of my life. There are always facts about America being the most obese country in the world and I see many health commercials that are concerned with child obesity. I hated being Judged because of my weight, especially when I was in grade school and it caused me to react in the wrong way by becoming a tough guy. This attitude I developed almost cost me my catholic education. Despite this, I did find a way to Just hold back and finish my catholic education. The clothes I would wear would be all loose on me which again wasnt the way everyone dressed in shirts that they said fit but to me seemed tight. On dress down days I would wear my baggy clothes and see the odd stares from classmates who wore there preppy clothes that fit and wasnt that lose. The shorts I would wear would be a little ghetto In the sense they pretty far past my knees and I would rarely wear cargo shorts. There was an African American teen influence in my style because I would hang out with them at times in my neighborhood of Tycoon. If someone made a remark about me I would get angry with them and shove them or do something immature which caused more people to judge me before they know me.The music that I listen to now Is such a drastic change from when I was kid which has helped me fit in during social events or parties. When I use to be unfairly judged I would be listening to hip hop music and the language could not be comprehended by kids in my class. They would be listening to the rock music that I did like but didnt always listen to because I was raised listening to hip hop. I still love some hip hop music as I did when I was kid but as of now I listen to everything from rock to house/techno music. The crazy thing Is the kids that unfairly Judged me before who I I have been listening to since a child. Being unfairly Judged would dampen my mood a lot when I was younger because I took the Judgments of others as me being wrong. I havent noticed any unfair judgment as I got older because I dont think I really care much about it anymore besides my weight problem. Everyone that has matured from those days still make ekes here and there about things I may wear or my weight but I Just try to laugh it off because I know Vie come a long way since wearing the really baggy clothes and long shorts.I believe that in this society most of people very shallow because you rarely see a very attractive girl with a heavier guy or someone who dresses oddly, however it is the same way for guys who are the typical size and wear the dress clothes. I was unfairly Judged when I was a kid and maybe I still am now, despite this, I find myself doing the same exact thing to others by being very shallow which I know I need to change.

Dead Star Essays

Dead Star Essays Dead Star Essay Dead Star Essay Based on a true story, the film begins portraying Lorenzo Odone leading his chief life on the Comoro Islands where he learns, plays and enjoys interacting with other people in the place. Lorenzo is the son of Michaela and Augusto Odone. At the age of 6, things start to go wrong with him. He begins to have strange memory problems, blackouts, he collapses, he raves and he loses his hearing. So his concerned parents got worried and take him to the doctor. When Augusto and Michaela talked to the doctor, they were told that Lorenzo has been diagnosed with the childhood cerebral form of adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), a progressive degenerative nervous system disorder. This disease has no cure and quite rare. The doctor explained to Augusto and Michaela the slowly arising symptoms that will be experienced by their son until he will be disabled and die in 2 years. The parents’ hearts were shattered upon hearing all those especially for Michaela when she found out that his son got this disease from her because mothers, who are the only carriers, pass this to their sons. They took Lorenzo to one of the worlds foremost experts but bypass the slow lane of medical research. They decided to be independent to medical science because they believe that the time remaining will not be enough if they would still wait for ongoing medical examination for ALD.They take matters into their own hands and start their own investigation of the disease even though neither has a scientific or medical background. The couple spends countless hours in medical libraries reading journal articles and talking to researchers and doctors. Although doctors tell the Odones there’s no hope for their son, Augusto tries to find out all he can about the disease. He keeps on discussing with his wife how to reduce and normalize these fatty acids that hinder Lorenzo’s regular body metabolism. They even make Lorenzo go through a diet which inhibits him the intake of saturated fat-containing food. This strategy still keeps the oleic acid of Lorenzo keeps on rising until they found out that it is not enough to restrain the entrance of saturated fats in his body but also to reduce the process of its body to produce this fatty acid. As Augusto continues on their studies he was able to sum up all the variables to know the right treatment for his son. After much hard work and some inspiration, they helped develop a treatment for ALD made from olive and rapeseed, which name Lorenzo’s Oil.The Odones had to fight the medical establishment and even other parents of ALD boys to win acceptance of their discovery. At the end of the movie, Lorenzo is able to communicate by a modified sign language. The story ends on a positive note as several children with ALD who have been treated with Lorenzos Oil are shown to be healthy. 1) Basically, we can relate the story to the present lesson in genetics for the cause of Lorenzo got his illness from his mother. Meaning, the adrenoleukodystophy or ALD is one of the inherited diseases carried by a mother’s gene and this is associated with the Law of Inheritance. With this topic, it can be further explained through our discussions in genetics about questions like: What are the processes involve on how Lorenzo got ALD? Why is it that this disease can only pass in to male offspring? In the movie, Augusto and Michaela also include Genetics as one of the subject matter they should study in order to recognize and gather all the needed information for them to understand even the deeper edges about the rare disease Lorenzo’s carrying so that they can formulate its treatment. ) The story is all about a father and a mother fighting for their son to live despite that their belief appear as impossibility for the people that surround them. As individuals, it would be quite easy to feel helpless while up against a disease such as ALD. But Augusto and Michaela Odone refused to just stand while their sons life slipped away from them. Instead, they decided to learn as much as they could about their sons devastating illness and then set about to find a cure. They spend almost 24 hours in thinking and doing everything they could to save their son’s life.Normally this part will touch every viewer’s heart but what made my tears fall was when Michaela is giving away this line to her son saying, If this is too much for you my sweetheart, then you fly. You fly as fast as you can to Baby Jesus. Its ok. Mama and papa will be ok. This tore my heart because it shows that with all the efforts and no matter how Michaela wants to see her son alive, she will always be ready to let him go for the freedom of Lorenzo from all the pain that he is suffering. 3) The story is a true masterpiece about hope. The arents in order to survive their son to illness didn’t depend their son’s chance to live to the doctors instead, they exceeded the ability of any doctor could do and at the same time performed as an extraordinary parents with full of faith on what they are doing. Because of hope, they turned misfortune into miracles and tragedy into triumph. With all the struggles that they had been through, it made they’re life more meaningful and this only means there’s no difficulty God will give us that we cannot surpass. 4) The movie making is spectacular and of highest quality.I wept several times when watching this film. This is a n intense drama with fine acting and something to think about deeply. The emotional roller coaster of confusion, assurance, despair, determination, disappointment, guilt, love, joy, and perseverance are beautifully depicted. It’s also quite inspiring. I have immense admiration for Augusto and Michaela. Facing mockery, skepticism and criticism, they persevered in their quest to help stop a deadly disease. The Odones struggled and conquered their misfortune, and their achievement was outstanding.

Hybrid Cars Pros and Cons Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Hybrid Cars Pros and Cons - Essay Example This is not to suggest that hybrid vehicles do not provide certain benefits, they most certainly do, but that some of the benefits are not as complete as the media would have us believe. Indeed, in addition to certain overstatements regarding the benefits of hybrid vehicles, there are some disadvantages. A more sober analysis of hybrid vehicles demands a careful examination of the extant of the advantages and disadvantages rather than lofty statements unsupported by the evidence. To this end this essay will discuss the rationale for pursuing hybrid technologies, define more precisely what is meant by a hybrid vehicle, and discuss the advantages and disadvantages. As an initial matter, one cannot understate the significance of the motor vehicle to the American way of life. They are pervasive as they are used by individuals for leisure, by individuals for getting to work, and by businesses for commercial transportation. A review of the statistical data is staggering. In a recent report by the United States Department of Transportation it was stated that there are more than one hundred and thirty-six million automobiles, more than ninety-five million other types of two-axle four tire motor vehicles, and more than eight hundred busses, more than eight million trucks (Number of Aircraft, Railcars, Vehicles, and Vessels, 2005: n.p.). In short, there are there are, perhaps, more motor vehicles in the United States than human beings. Having this many vehicles, in turn has consequences. The pollution generated by these motor vehicles is similarly staggering. The 28th National Air Quality and Emission Trends Report, for instance, that motor vehicle mi les traveled continues to increase and that this factor is one of the most significant contributors to air pollution (2003: 1). This pollution poses severe risks to public health; indeed as again stated by the 28th National Air Quality and Emission Trends Report "Exposure to air pollution is associated with numerous effects on human health, including respiratory problems, hospitalization for heart or lung diseases, and even premature death. Children are at greater risk because they are generally more active outdoors and their lungs are still developing. The elderly and people with heart or lung diseases are also more sensitive to some types of air pollution" (2003: n.p.) Even a cursory examination of the relevant statistical data demonstrates that motor vehicles are pervasive in American society and that they generate substantial expenses both in terms of financial expenditures and in terms of public health. Hybrid Cars: Definition and a Comparative Analysis It is within this context, attempting to minimize financial, environmental, and public health costs, that the hybrid car has generated so much excitement. Most generally, a hybrid car refers to a car that can use two or more separate sources of power. Although there are different types of hybrid motor vehicles, this essay is most concerned with a hybrid car that uses an internal combustion engine and an electric motor as its two separate sources of power. This further reduces the analysis to power which is typically generated by oil versus power which is generated by an electric battery. This type of car has proven extraordinarily

Risk Template - Essay Example The subsequent analysis of the differences or variances and the action taken are a vital part of the control mechanism. III. Internal Risks. These risks have a great impact on the project and its success, but they can be easily eliminated and avoided. To achieve the task requires clear definition, good planning, clear roles and responsibilities, appropriate resources and regular reviews as the project proceeds. IV. Quality Risks. There is even evidence that, despite the formal utilization of quantified cost-benefit approaches, the practical implementation of safety and quality may be achieved by informal means. A new or changed design can be costly, as it may need new tools, or new layout of works and employees may have to be retrained (Crouhy et al 2000). Quality policy must be formulated in terms a designer can understand and act upon. Breakdown is not chronological and does not involve itself in worrying about what has to be done, it merely breaks down the objective of the project into some sensible and convenient groups (Frame, 2002). Also, it is important to note that within each department managers will find a hierarchy translated into a part of the project schedule structure. Risk Low Probab

In other similar compilations done, the song has received numerous high ranking positions. The song had such a big impact on the entertainment wo rld that it gave rise to slang. Today, the title of the song Stan is used in referring to a kind of obsession. Over the internet and online interactions, the name Stan is usually associated with the overzealous and sometimes maniacal obsession attached to a personality or celebrity (Hasted). The entire song is based on a fictional character that is presented as Stanley but mostly referred to as Stan. The character claims over and over that he is the biggest Eminem fan. This is presented in the various letters that are written to Eminem by the fan and how he tries to elaborate his exemplary attachment to Eminems lifestyle. The letters are written to the artist and every new letter brings out the ever growing obsession of the fan to Eminem. His obsession leads to anger when the Eminem fails to take note of the efforts of Stan. Stan is disappointed by the fact that Eminem does not seem to take note of the different efforts he makes in trying to establish communication with the artist. Each unanswered letter leads to progression of the fans anger and he gives up on writing more letters to the artist. The progression of his anger leads him to attempt a new mode of communication. According to the fan, this new communication is designed to be so intense that it will not only capture the attention of the artist, but also prompt the artist to respond to the communication. Stan creates a voice recording which he sends to the artist in a bid to get his attention. The recording is suicidal and Stan hopes to get the attention of the artist through providing a recording of his last activities (Stubbs). In the recording by Stan, he provides the artist with the events surrounding the attempt to not only end his own life, but also that of his pregnant girlfriend. Stan records himself in his car as he is speeding down on the highway headed for a bridge. In the recording, he starts off by telling the artist that he is sending him the recording with the hope that he will get to hear it and understand his anger. He tells Eminem of how he is doing 90 which is quite a high speed on the freeway but does not reveal his true intentions as of yet. After this, he goes on to scream to someone in the car. Stan screams at the other person to stop talking and from the manner he Stan expresses himself, it is evident to note that the other person is female. He goes on to introduce the person as his girlfriend. Throughout this time, there is a lot of screaming and screeching that is taking place within the recording. Stan informs Eminem that he has to get off the phone because he is almost at the b ridge. It is here that his Stans intentions are made clear with regards to the purpose of the recording. He presents his intention as being suicidal but stops to think about how he was supposed to send the recording to Eminem. Before he can contemplate on how he is to send the recording after he has driven the car into the river, the sound of tires screeching is heard then followed by a loud splash (Eminem). In the structure of the song, Stan initiates communication with Eminem and this is brought out in the first three verses. Here, Eminem is singing as Stan and most of the events present the activities surrounding the suicide by Stan. The fourth verse is delivered by Eminem and he presents information about how he attempted to initiate communication with Stan. He however realizes that he is late and the news about Stans death has already featured on the news. In one of the interviews conducted on Eminem by his radio station, there was additional information about the song that does not feature in most analyses. In the interview, Eminem stated that there was a verse in the original writing that did not feature in the song. The verse that was exempted was about the events that followed Stans survival of the suicide attempt. After the failed suicide attempt, Stan attempted to get back at Eminem and kill him. In the omitted verse Eminem ends up in hospital after defending himself but Stan does not give up. Stan goes on to attempt finishing what he had started at the hospital but ends up dead after Eminem kills him. The song was inspired by the demise of one of the closest members of the Eminems family. His uncle Ronnie is the inspirational force behind the writing and recording of the song. In 1991, Ronnie killed himself and this had a great impact on the life of Eminem as brought out in this song (Stubbs). The first verse of the song presents Stan in his bid to capture Eminems attention. He talks about how he Stan is for the third time writing to Eminem, with the hope that he will be in a position of communicating back to him. Throughout the course of the first verse, there is the sound of rain and thunder in the background. The sound of a pencil scratching on the surface of a paper as a person writes a letter is also one of the important sounds in the first verse. This depicts the unending efforts by Stan in trying to capture the attention of Eminem. His level of devotion to Eminem and his work is also brought out in the first verse. Here, Stan informs Eminem about how he has build up a whole room filled with the pictures and posters of Eminem. He also informs him about the two letters he has drafted and sent in the past. He goes on to state that Eminem might have most probably failed to receive the letters. Stans obsession of Eminem is also brought out through presenting details about his girlfriend. Stan informs Eminem about his girlfriend being pregnant and how he plans on naming the child Bonnie. The name is derived from one of Eminems songs in the Slim Shady Album. Stan goes on to express his commitment to Eminem when he passes his condolences about the dealt of one of Eminems family members (Stubbs) The second verse is the genesis of Stans frustration and this is brought out in the manner through which he expresses himself. He goes on to tell Eminem about how his lack of response is an issue of grave concern to him. He talks about how rude it is for Eminem not to respond to his fans. As Stans frustration increases, the background becomes louder and increasingly unsettled. In the course of the third verse, Stan presents information to Eminem about how he is going to kill himself and his girlfriend who is pregnant who he has tied up in the trunk. In presenting information about his girlfriend, Stan references one of the songs of Eminem named Kim in which Eminem killed his girlfriend by slitting his throat after realizing that she was cheating on her. Before he contemplates about how he can have the tape recording delivered to Eminem, Stan crushes into the river. The fourth verse is all about Eminems expression of the entire situation and how things have turned out (Hasted).

Essay --

We are living in an imperfect world where evil exists. Everyday when we turn on the radio or start reading the newspaper, we will definitely come across news where someone’s life was taken away or something evil has happened which has caused people to suffer. For example, a natural disaster, a car accident, wars between two countries or someone being robbed. If evil does not exists in this world, tragedies will not happen and people will not need to suffer. In â€Å"God and the Problem of Evil,† B.C. Johnson argues that evil rules out the existence of an all-knowing, all-powerful and all-good God because there are many evil things that are happening in this world. In this paper, I am going to argue that God is only all-good but not all-powerful and all-knowing. God is all-knowing, God is all-powerful, God is all-good, suffering and evil will not exists in this world. When we read or hear of disasters, deaths and sufferings, we always question why God would allow all these to happen. We always question God why God did not prevent them from happening. We always question why He would allow innocent people to suffer in different ways? Why does evil exists? If God is all-knowing, all-powerful and all-good, then evil should not exists in this world. In this case, the problem is if God is all-knowing, he should be wise enough to not let people suffer and if God is all-powerful, he should be able to stop evil. Also, if God is all-good, he should let the world be perfect and let everyone live a peaceful life with harmony. Since evil exists in this world, thus, God is not all-knowing, all-powerful or all-good. The conclusion of the argument is that God may not be all-knowing, all-powerful and all-good because the existence of evil rule... ...any jobs to be lost and as a result an increase in unemployment rate. Thus, God is all-good because he cannot allow the unemployment rate to increase and he does not want to see people jobless. In other words, he is not powerful enough to control the whole situation and make the world perfect. Therefore, evil still rules the world. The arguments stated above prove that God is not all-powerful, all-knowing and all-good. If he is, then the world will be a perfect place without the existence of evil. But we all know accidents, disasters, murders, sufferings and many other evil things do happen, we can conclude that there is no perfect world and God is not all-knowing, all-powerful and all-good. From all of the examples that I mentioned above, it is evident that evil do exists side-by-side God, this means that God is not able to rule evil. Thus, God is only all-good.
